The Council of Ministers to decide in March when to accede the country to Schengen zone
(Sofia, Feb 14) – The Netherlands has significantly softened its position on Bulgaria’s Schengen entry. The new Dutch cabinet reckons that Bulgaria is ready for the Schengen zone.
This fact was underlined by Dutch State Secretary for Security and Justice, Fred Teeven who expressed his position after a meeting with Bulgaria’s minister of interior, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, in The Hague.
„The Netherlands indisputably looks on Bulgaria as a partner which demonstrates security and safety,“ Mr Tveen stated and added that the cooperation between Bulgaria and the Netherlands was more than good.
Teeven reminded that the draft agreement on the Schengen entry of Bulgaria and Romania will be discussed by the Council of EU Foreign Ministers on March 7.
The Western media responded promptly – according to them, Holland has softened its stance on the Schengen membership of Bulgaria and Romania because Bulgaria had officially admitted that Hezbollah was the mastermind of the terrorist act in the Burgas airport that took lives of five Israeli tourists and their Bulgarian driver.
Meanwhile Israeli ambassador in Bulgaria Shaul Kamisa-Raz said that he hoped the investigation carried out in Bulgaria will enable the European states to take a resolute decision and add Hezbollah to the list of terrorist organizations.
